Bike to Work Day 2012

With many cyclists amongst our staff here at Beyond Pix, when the Bay Area Bicycle Coalition approached us to work with them on a video to promote Bike to Work Day 2012 the answer was a no-brainer. For the past eight years we have donated production for a promotional PSA video to help support the Bike to Work Day effort. This year’s project was the creation of a music video developed specifically for Bike to Work. Teaming up with musical recording artists Mixman Shawn, Giju John, Rebecca Dharmapalan, and Jaz proved to be a fun and creative collaboration to bring the music video to life.

The production consists of three production days spread over six locations in San Francisco. Despite some heavy spring rain, the cast and crew were excited to get out, have fun and support the Bay Area Bicycle Coalition.

The music video is set for release in April, and the team hopes it will hit the online mediasphere and inspire people to bring out their bikes, hit the streets and participate in Bike to Work Day 2012!

Toyota: If I Were President Campaign

Beyond Pix Studios partnered with Hoffman/Lewis agency for another Toyota television production to kick-off the 2012 production year. The Hoffman/Lewis creative team was looking to capture the fun and honesty of young kids who want to be President, and tie that in to the Toyota 2012 President’s Day sale event.

The best place to find top-notch child acting talent is none other than the birthplace of cinema, Hollywood. So the Beyond Pix and Hoffman/Lewis team made the trip down the coast to Los Angeles for casting and production.

Beyond Pix project manager Tony Welch, who serves as Creative Services Director, brought on veteran commercial line producer Lisa Sechser to coordinate the production, as well as Bay Area favorite Norman Bonney as Director of Photography. Hoffman/Lewis sent their top creative team as well - all of which helped make the production a fantastic success worthy of Capitol Hill. The kids had a great time as they performed to camera, stating all the things they would do if elected President, and the crew had a good laugh or two throughout the day which made it all the more fun.

The spots were shot on a pair of RED ONE cameras in studio and posted using Final Cut Pro 7. Keep an eye out in February to see the final commercials, which will air throughout the Northern California Toyota market.

To Celebrate Life 2011

In October 2011, Beyond Pix Studios donated it's services to the "To Celebrate Life Foundation" for the second consecutive year, to help celebrate the courage of breast cancer survivors at the annual "Stepping Out To Celebrate Life" fundraising event at the Marin Civic Center. Beyond Pix donated crew, equipment and it's mobile production studio to help put on a great show, which included a hosted dinner, fashion show and live auction... all with the theme "James Bond: A Night to Bond". The event was a large success, but the greatest success was the smiles and inspiration brought by the fashion models, all of whom are actual breast cancer survivors.

Yahoo! Advertising Solutions

Internet giant Yahoo! boasts some of the web’s best known properties, visited by over 600 million people every month - including it’s web portal, search engine (Yahoo! Search), Yahoo! Directory, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! News, entertainment (OMG!), Yahoo! Sports, online mapping (Yahoo! Maps), video sharing (Yahoo! Video), and social media websites and services. This huge array of sites provides potential advertisers with unparalleled visibility, but Yahoo! also offers customers a unique array of advertising products and services unmatched in the online industry, collectively referred to by the company under the banner “Science + Art + Scale.”

Yahoo! recently asked Beyond Pix’s Creative Services department to highlight some of these offerings in a series of short videos hosted on the company’s advertising solutions site, advertising. yahoo. com.

Beyond Pix’s Creative Services staff assembled a team of strategists, writers and artists who worked with Yahoo! to prepare concepts, scripts and storyboards for three videos, each of which featured one of the strategic attributes that makes Yahoo!’s advertising solutions unique among competitors: science, art and scale. Beyond Pix’s Creative Services then handed off scripts and boards to the Production and Post departments while closely maintaining creative control over each of these processes - assuring that every element was executed as it was originally envisioned.

The results: three visually engaging, informative and entertaining videos that clearly illustrate why advertisers are better off choosing Yahoo!’s solutions for their online advertising.

Lyris, Inc.

Lyris, Inc. is based in Emeryville, California, and is the online & email marketing expert that delivers the right mix of technology and industry knowledge to help customers simplify their marketing efforts and optimize campaign ROI.
When Lyris wanted to consolidate and optimize their own marketing, they turned to Beyond Pix Studios to help elevate their video presence on the web.  A partnership kicked off wherein Beyond Pix helped Lyris create a series of videos for use in product marketing, product training and internal corporate communications.

Lyris HQ & Lyris HQ Mobile (Product Demos)
Working very closely with the Beyond Pix Creative Services team, Lyris was able to develop creative concept, storyboards, script, and custom motion graphics for their flagship email marketing software product, Lyris HQ.  The creative for the video was informed by, and also helped inform, other marketing materials Lyris utilized as part of their overall marketing campaign.

Lyris HQ Training Series (Product Training)
Lyris had already been using video as a means of software training for their customer base, but they wanted to upgrade the look, feel and efficacy to reflect their new marketing approach.  Working with Beyond Pix Creative Services, we were able to leverage design assets being developed for their other video projects to create a cohesive look and feel for the training videos.  Our years of experience in the training video category also allowed us to develop a more efficient and quality workflow for the series development cycle.

Quarterly Webcast & Executive Interviews (Corporate Communications)
Communicating to a global employee base can be difficult to accomplish in a cost effective manner, while still maintaining a high level of quality and sincerity.  The Beyond Pix Creative Services team worked with Lyris to create intimate executive interviews, as well as a live all-hands quarterly webcast event, to bolster internal communications within the company.
The partnership continues to grow in new directions as we work together to find just the right video solutions to meet the needs of Lyris, Inc.

Toyota "Yes" TV Campaign

Courtesy of Agency Hoffman Lewis. When one of the top selling automobile brands in the nation starts preparing for an ad campaign, they need big ideas. That’s why Toyota works with beloved former 49er quarterback Steve Young – who has also been a faithful customer for many years. In the past, Toyota and their esteemed partner Hoffman/Lewis had found success with the expertise of Beyond Pix Studios, so the Hoffman/Lewis creative team called Beyond Pix Studios to produce the 3 commercials for the “Yes” ad campaign, starring Steve Young… and co-starring various Toyotas.

Because the team would be working with celebrity talent, the time allocated for filming his shots would be limited – Steve Young had only eight hours on one single day, so each second of filming had to be optimized to the hilt. To this end, the team would have to find one local town that could provide 3 different looks for each commercial, and that town needed one long and scenic road to use the process trailer for the running footage. Filming had to be dead on every time.

Beyond Pix Studios had exactly the expertise needed: director of photography Norman Bonney, who specializes in automotives, and cameraman Pete Fuszard, whose passion for car shoots is backed by a wealth of car-filming experience. Under the direction of Sharon Krinsky, President of Hoffman/Lewis, the team discovered the perfect location in San Rafael. All of the process trailer work was shot on one road making it appear as though Steve was driving when in fact he was not. The diverse scenery on the road enabled the team to shoot Steve “driving” the car from various angles with different backgrounds, which gave each commercial the look and feel of an entirely different location without the hassle of having to go anywhere. Additional footage of Steve Young with the “yes” signs was filmed on a cul-de-sac near by. On-platform audio was added and the partnered team of Beyond Pix Studios, Hoffman/Lewis and Toyota could once again, shout “yes!” for a job well done.
