Green Lifestyles
Challenge
In 2007, Bloomberg producer Elizabeth Gould conceptualized the series of Green Business. The goal was to report on progressive business models that searched for new definitions of success that were both financial and included a sustainable lifestyles element. Green Business focused on companies and entrepreneurs across the country, with the San Francisco Bay Area, arguably home to some of the most environmentally friendly innovators on the planet. Gould asked Beyond Pix Studios to shoot the series. Bloomberg’s San Francisco office had previously partnered with Beyond Pix for various production needs, but Gould opted to work exclusively with Beyond Pix and their wealth of contacts for Green Business.
Execution
Gould needed an experienced crew to bring her concept to fruition, a crew that had to be able to travel to a diverse array of on-location shoots. Beyond Pix Studios satisfied that requirement, but also brought the unique local knowledge necessary to help make the production a real success. The ten minute episodes covered topics like the Mercedes test labs in Sacramento, the West Coast Green Building Convention, a green model home in Vacaville, and a sustainable wedding in San Francisco. Beyond Pix assigned director of photography Sean Karlin to shoot and guide Elizabeth’s production, capturing the spirit of modern day entrepreneurs as they try to save the planet and make a buck.
