Challenge

NuSmile is dedicated to beautiful and healthy smiles for those suffering from Early Childhood Caries (ECC)- extreme tooth decay in children under 6. To this end, NuSmile manufactures primary anterior crowns with the most natural looking facing available at affordable prices. Resulting from untreated bacterial infections, severe ECC affects roughly 300,000 children in the United States. Another 1.5 million children have less severe cases. Studies have shown that most cases are found in socially disadvantaged children – a fact that NuSmile wanted to share with the pediatric dentist community in an effort to make a difference. Their method? An informative and smile-worthy webinar. The webinar would be hosted by Vcall, but who would handle the filming and the technical coordination and where would the filming take place?

Execution

Vcall, a long standing Beyond Pix Studios client, called Beyond Pix Studios and spoke to producer Marty Jackson. The webinar would include two pediatric dentists taking turns presenting from a single integrated PowerPoint presentation viewed by a live studio audience and later by an on-demand online audience. Thorough pre-production planning ensured successful audio and visual technical integration, between Beyond Pix and David Corsino- the overall project producer working for Vcall. In Beyond Pix's largest studio- Studio D, we built a hard set with custom colors and lighting to reflect NuSmile's branding. Three monitors were used, two acting as teleprompters allowing the presenters to view the PowerPoint presentation and another for audience viewing. The 3-camera live-to-tape shot was directed by Beyond Pix Studios’ Bevan Bell and was prepared for on-demand distribution by the Beyond Pix Interactive Media department’s Kevin Killough and Ben Morse. Now, invaluable information on ECC and affordable solutions provided by companies like NuSmile is available to pediatric dentists across the county, bringing children of all backgrounds a reason to smile with confidence.
