Film Noir Lighting Package
It’s rumored that Film Noir developed as a genre because in the formative days, professional lighting instruments were expensive and filmmakers would try to get by shooting with as few lights as possible. Thus, dark, moody and heavily contrasted cinematic images emerged which made it naturally easy for mystery, thriller, gangster and other “film noir” genres to be created. In essence, it’s function follows form.In celebration of the rich history of budget conscious artists, we offer you the best deal in town for studio lights to get your shoot done without leaving you in the dark. Price: $ 99.00
List of lighting instruments:*
- 1 - 2K Mole-Richardson Molequartz Mighty-Mole

Parking
There are several pay parking lots managed by Priority Parking just a short block away from Beyond Pix (lot locations mapped in green in the light box image). Rates range from $15-$20 per day.
Reserved parking procedure: (meters listed below are highlighted in red on the map to the left)
Call the San Francisco Police Department’s Central District at 415.315.2424, ask for Dante Giovanelli and request for an application. Part of the application will request for parking meter numbers. They are as follows:
For parking meters right in front of our facility on Battery Street, request for:
- 324 09260
- 324 09280
- 324 09300
- 324 09320
For parking meters around the corner from our facility on Green Street, request for:
- 445 00950
- 445 00930
- 445 00910
- 445 00890
Reserved parking is advantageous for various reasons. It allows us to call a tow company to clear any car that violates the spaces reserved. It guarantees parking for production vehicles to be nearby. Every meter will require a No Parking placard and fees are charged on the basis of number of signs requested.
NATAS Gets "Social"
Riding the wave of renewed vigor and popularity, the San Francisco/Northern California is enjoying the highest membership of all NATAS Chapters. No doubt it’s due to the strong leadership and its robust TV marketplaces, but certain credit is due to its online efforts including an expanding website and increased efforts in social media communications.
NATAS workshop programs keep its membership well informed and educated on current issues. A Social Media workshop was held at Beyond Pix by John Benoit, an authority on the subject. John covered all the basics of various ways to build a presence and reach out to targeted audiences. He talked about the many nuances of interacting with people on Facebook and explained how to work other social media sites into your daily workflow depending on how you want to use these tools in your business and personal life.
NATAS workshops are held primarily for its members, but non-members are also encouraged to participate. Log in to www.emmysf.tv for the schedule of upcoming seminars or for more comprehensive news and information about the San Francisco/Northern California NATAS Chapter.
Signing Off!
Former prosecutor, Nancy Grace, turned TV host came to San Francisco to anchor her live show that originated from Beyond Pix’s Studio D. Despite the high pressure of shooting CNN’s highest profile show away from the standard machinations of her familiar environment in Atlanta, Beyond Pix was able to replicate her custom lighting with its fully equipped grip and lighting studio along with the expertise of a world class production crew.
The Atlanta based production team collaborated with our DP, Dave Scardina to discuss her specific set and lighting requirements and the San Francisco crew easily replicated “the look” and style she desired. At the conclusion of the show, Beyond Pix was given the highest compliment from the main producer in New York: proclaiming how the San Francisco image easily matched or bettered those coming out of their network studios in Atlanta!
